Cafe en Landing
Introduction: As an industrial design student, I had the opportunity to participate in a summer course and study abroad program in Copenhagen, Denmark. This brief but immersive experience enabled me to explore architectural principles and expand my design skills beyond my primary field of study. Café En Landing is the culmination of this journey, reflecting my interdisciplinary perspective and creative vision.
Assignment Brief: The assignment tasked me with designing a café pavilion situated next to the heavily trafficked street of FredenGade in Copenhagen. The final design should aim to create a tranquil oasis amidst the urban chaos, addressing challenges such as noise pollution and congestion while respecting the urban, visual, and environmental qualities of the lakeside location.

Site Analysis and Context: Situated next to FredensGade and The Lakes, Café En Landing embraces the challenges posed by noise pollution and congestion in Copenhagen. My brief time in the city allowed me to gain firsthand insight into the local environment and understand the contextual factors influencing the project!

Design Concept: Café En Landing aims to elevate its surroundings, serving as a focal point between two neighborhoods. The design harmonizes with the environment, drawing visitors into the café and guiding them towards adjacent areas.

Architectural Design: Café En Landing's design incorporates 3D methodologies inspired by Rowena Reed Kostellow's proportion and spatial design principles, aligned with Danish architectural traditions. The use of an obtuse roofing plane draws visitors into the café and guides them toward neighboring Norrebro and Osterbro.
Inside, angled ceilings, a glass facade, and columns parallel to the surrounding trees encourage patrons to enjoy their purchases outdoors or while on the move to their next destination.
